Prodrive Technologies launches flexible new compact COM Express module

Prodrive Technologies has launched the Atlas 12th Gen Series, a new COM express compact module to enable industrial computing applications to benefit from greater customization and integration options. The module is the first product to launch in the new Atlas series of industrial computing solutions.

Instead of using a single PCB, businesses can combine the new 95mm x 95mm COM Express module from Prodrive Technologies with a separate carrier board. This modular approach enables businesses to easily update only the necessary parts of the system as functionality requirements change. It provides a simpler and quicker way to upgrade and maintain systems to keep up with computational power demands without having to switch the entire PCB.

“We understand that industrial applications increasingly require more computing power in a smaller footprint and that they need more flexibility too,” says Bas van Bree, Program Manager for Prodrive Technologies. “Our new Atlas 12th Gen Series COM express module combines a small form factor with modularity and up-to-date technology that can help users get the power and performance needed in compact applications.”

The new compact Atlas 12th Gen Series COM express module features an up-to-date 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i3/i5/i7 (ADL-P) processor to help reliably optimize system performance. It includes DDR5 memory with ample capacity to support high-tech applications, and PCIe gen5 with a higher bandwidth compared to previous generation products.

“Another big benefit of combining the Altas 12th Gen Series module with a separate carrier board is that the board can be customized, enabling users to better meet their specific requirements,” says van Bree. “The board can also be more seamlessly integrated within a wider system, meaning that it can support applications in many markets, from healthcare to materials handling equipment, to precise motion applications.”

To ensure the Altas 12th Gen Series module works optimally, Prodrive Technologies can also design and produce the COM Express carrier board. Prodrive Technologies’ experts in embedded computing systems and electronics can develop and integrate the complete system, including various hardware and software requirements.

“By providing an added-value, whole-system solution, we can take responsibility for the whole system,” says van Bree. “While we work on solving challenges and optimizing solutions, businesses are free to instead focus on developing their application.”

Prodrive Technologies will be showcasing its new Altas 12th Gen Series Module at Embedded World from 21-23 June 2022, in Nuremberg, Germany.
