IDEAL Networks, manufacturer of cable and network testers, has introduced a free app that allows field technicians to share test data with colleagues and mobile devices. Used with the new LanTEK® III cable certifier, which can serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot, this helps increase productivity and reduce downtime.
The IDEAL AnyWARETM app, which is available for Apple or Android devices, enables the sending of data cable and network test results to colleagues based anywhere. Once tests have been performed, users simply activate the app and transfer the test data to their mobile device. To make this hassle-free and time-efficient, there is no need to connect to a local Wi-Fi network, as IDEAL testers such as the LanTEK III act as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Once transferred, test results can then be sent on via email or file sharing apps and in just a few clicks. This means that installers and technicians can share test data with colleagues based off site without delay, improving collaboration, troubleshooting capabilities and job completion times while removing the need to transport further testers.
For example, using the LanTEK III on-site provides easy-to-read plots that clearly show the distance to the fault, and can locate hidden connections, splices and cable faults using Time Domain Return Loss (TDRL) and Time Domain Crosstalk (TDX). Using the IDEAL AnyWARE app, installers and technicians can simply share this test result data with one another without the need to leave the jobsite.
In addition, test data can be downloaded to the free and simple to use IDEAL DataCENTER test result management software. From here, results can be analysed, or, in just three steps, transformed into professional reports in PDF, XML or CSV formats. Reports produced can be viewed directly on a users mobile device, so as well as keeping colleagues based offsite up to date, these reports can also be shared with clients or used to help demonstrate job completion to a customer.
“The IDEAL AnyWARE app helps users to keep their clients happy. The ability to share data via a mobile device leads to quicker job completion times by reducing the need for further site visits and testing,” says Tim Widdershoven, IDEAL Networks Global Marketing Manager. “When difficulties arise, this data can now be easily shared with colleagues off site to help resolve the issue more quickly, which in turn keeps costs down – both for field technicians and for the end client.”
Tim continues: “Simple to use, and free to download, the app gives users even more flexibility and usability from their IDEAL tester and works effectively with the IDEAL DataCENTER test result management software.”
Full instructions on how to use the app are in the IDEAL tester quick reference guide or manual. The IDEAL AnyWARE app is supported by SignalTEK CT, SignalTEK NT, NaviTEK NT and LanTEK III.
To download the free IDEAL AnyWARE app, technicians using an IDEAL certifier can simply visit the iTunes or Google Play app store and search for "IDEAL AnyWARE".
IDEAL Networks is giving away a free iPad Mini 4 or Samsung Galaxy Tablet S8.4 with every purchase of the new LanTEK III until 31st March 2016. Visit promo.idealnwd.com for T&Cs and how to redeem online. IDEAL Networks also offers a wide range of accessories to support its products.
