Why did Blackpool get dragged into the Fracking argument?

As covered by the BBC news today, a protest was staged on Blackpool Tower over Fracking http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-14441768.

Blackpool may be a long way from Texas, but what is it that causes people to protest about hydraulic fracturing or "Fracking" all over the world?
