Forklift or fork lift?

We tend to write about forklift trucks for the simple reason that we work for several clients in the materials handling sector.

However, when we conduct our research we tend to find the word spelt in many different ways such as forklift, fork-lift or fork lift.

Molokini typically uses forklift as a its "house style" but I asked Peter Macleod of Storage Handling Distribution (SHD) magazine who confirmed that all may be correct, but their house style is fork lift.  I subsequently looked through our ever growing archive of SHD magazines to check.

We believe that all three could be correct, however, forklift truck is our preferred option.
